A native of West Terre Haute, Indiana; Carol lived in the states of Wisconsin, Texas, and Indiana before returning to Wisconsin. She joined the Covered Bridge Art Association in Rockville, Indiana in 1995. As a teenager, Carol enjoyed trips to the Swope Art Gallery in Terre Haute but doubted her own ability to create paintings. When she was forty years old, a work colleague encouraged her to take a Country Painting class, and, except for a few intervening years she has been a practicing artist since that time. In addition to art workshops, she has studied with pastels under the direction of Jean Hornburg of Hartland, Wisconsin, and watercolors with Robert Whitmore and Rob O’Dell. Preferring to work in oils, Carol’s subjects are diverse — water, ships, lighthouses, rural scenes, covered bridges, and birds. Her exhibits have primarily been in Wisconsin and the Wabash Valley. She has received awards in Wisconsin, and in Indiana at the Parke County and Clay County Fairs, CBAA Gallery shows, and has exhibited with the
Wabash Valley Artist Guild.
