Dick Woppert

I have been a potter and art teacher for the last 43 years. In 1971 I started teaching Ceramics and Art History at Waukesha South High School. I soon realized that I had to devote all of my time to clay. I joined Abe Cohen at the Potters Wheel in Milwaukee after 4 years of teaching. In 1980 I purchased a 25 acre farmette in the beautiful driftless area of southwest Wisconsin and set up my studio. As a full time studio potter I did many art fairs and exhibited my pottery in numerous galleries throughout the state. I have won numerous awards and conducted workshops and demonstrations at many southern Wisconsin schools and universities. My emphasis has, and still is on functional porcelain ware. In 1994 I began teaching again at River Valley High School in Spring Green. Wi. I taught Ceramics Art History and Sculpture. In 2012 I retired and now continue making pottery, painting, gardening and playing music.
